WELSH, La. (KLFY)- Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call Sunday afternoon on Interstate 10 near Welsh. The caller advised a man driving a red Mercedes with no license plate pointed a silver pistol at him while traveling down the interstate.

When deputies observed the vehicle near Jennings it was stopped. 

The driver, Marquail Laquan Lee James, 22, of Lafayette, was arrested when deputies observed a silver semi auto Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol and two magazines in plain view on the floorboard of the Mercedes. 

James was booked into the parish jail on aggravated assault with a firearm.

He is held with no bond.
